How Pre-Orders Work

Fuzzy Roots has been successfully importing especially rare and exotic plants into South Africa since early 20202. We take great pride in sourcing plants from sustainable growers who are culturing and propagating rare plants that would otherwise be poached from the wild.
It is crucial for indoor plant collectors and hobbyists to be responsible and ecologically mindful of their impact on wild populations. Supporting legal and ethical sources, following sustainable cultivation practices, and promoting conservation efforts can help mitigate the negative effects and promote the positive aspects of this hobby.
Pre-orders for these imports usually take place three times a year.
Starting in SPRING with orders opening in Juy/August for a shipment arriving in September. The next orders open in October/November for a January shipment. The third shipment in Feb/March just before winter is usually a smaller import. To place a pre-order for one of these imports, you the customer can order by selecting the listed plants on the website where at checkout you are only required to place a 50% deposit for your order. The remaining 50% is only due once the plants have safely landed with us and ready to be shipped to you.
We usually offer two options on pre-orders.
Option 1 ā€“ Plants are unpacked, unwrapped, cleaned and disinfected and placed in recovery and then potted in our premium plant specific potting mixes. They then stay in our greenhouse for a few weeks (6 to 8 weeks) where temperatures and humidity are optimal for acclimation, until they are completely recovered from shipping stress and are then shipped onto you. This option includes guarantees that your plant will be refunded or replaced if it does not survive. However, leaf loss or mechanical damage does not qualify for a refund provided new roots and growth is still active.
Option 2 ā€“ Plants are shipped directly to you the customer on arrival in South Africa without potting or acclimation.
They will be bare rooted, wrapped in sphagnum moss and wrapping exactly as we receive them, as per international shipping practices. Please be very aware that international shipping is stressful on the plants and that the loss of some leaves and roots is completely normal and expected. With every shipment, we have reduced the amount of time that plants will be in international transit and therefore they should arrive in SA in good condition.
